Incest love triangle of mum who tricked son into marriage then wed daughter

Patricia Spann married two of her biological children - and wanted to start a relationship with a third.

The sickening love triangle tore was unintentionally discovered by the authorities, leading to the family being torn apart while mother and daughter were locked up behind bars.

Spann's eldest son, who claims he attempted to seduce him, described her as "worthless", "disgusting" and a "predator".

I think she’s just a sick, twisted individual that has something messed up in her head," Cody Spann told People in September 2016.

Spann told investigators she had lost custody of her three kids when they were young, so they were adopted and raised by their paternal grandmother.

When they were adults, Spann got back into contact with her estranged children around 2007.

The three siblings spent a lot of time with Spann, but they had no idea she was their adopted mother as she claimed to be a friend.

She became particularly close with Jody, who had joined the US Army Reserve as a teen, while they were all in Texas.

So much so that in 2008 she married the then 18-year-old, who reportedly was not aware she was his biological mother as her name had been taken off his birth certificate and replaced by his grandma's.

The horrifying truth was laid bare when the family returned to Oklahoma, when the children's grandmother revealed Jody's new wife was actually his mum.

Cody said his brother wanted to get far away from their mother, but claims Jody was allegedly "manipulated, forced and threatened" after he learned the truth.

That marriage was annulled by Jody in March 2010 for reasons of 'incest', according to reports, but Oklahoma authorities did not press charges.

Spann would later claim their relationship was not sexual and she was trying to protect him from being deployed into military service.

Cody was bitterly disappointed that his reunion with his biological mother happened under such disgusting circumstances.

"We got told we actually had a real mom, so we wanted to know what she was about, the first thing she showed us she was about was trying to get in my brother's pants," he told KFOR.

"Did she take advantage of the fact that we found her and actually wanted to be a part of her life? Yeah she did. She took big advantage of it.

"It could have been 'look we reunited you with your kids, be in your kids' lives,' but no, she wants to be with one of her kids. That is sick."

But the family's ordeal was not over, as Spann then started another incestuous relationship with her daughter, Misty.

Mother and daughter "hit it off" after they were reunited in 2014 and got married two years later in Oklahoma in March 2016.

But authorities rumbled them unintentionally in August 2016 during a child welfare investigation into the Spann home.

Patricia listed her surname as 'Clayton' on their marriage licence application, which she believed would save her.

According to an affidavit, Patricia "had looked into" marrying her daughter and had consulted multiple lawyers on whether it was a crime.

She wrongly determined she it was allowed because her name no longer appeared on Misty's birth certificate.

Under Oklahoma law, marrying a close relative is considered incest whether or not a sexual relationship exists.

Their marriage was annulled in October 2017 at the request of Misty, who cited "illegality and fraud".

She reportedly said her mother assured her she had received legal advice that indicated it was not a crime for them to wed.

Misty was given a 10-year suspended jail sentence after admitting incest, while Patricia pleaded guilty in exchange for a two year prison sentence.

A Duncan Police Department spokesman said the police believed there was allegedly "more than likely" some coercion and manipulation from Patricia.

But "all indications show that both of the children who married their mother went to the court of their own free will and signed the documents to marry her."

"There may have been some coercion there, but they had the choice and they chose to go ahead and do that," the spokesman said, adding that neither Jody or Misty ever reported threats from their mother to police.

Cody then claimed he turned down his mother when she tried to initiate an inappropriate relationship with him.

"She only tried it once and I told her to get lost, I would never be with my biological mom. That is disgusting. I came from that woman," he said.

"For you to want to put your own daughter through this, what kind of person are you?

'If that's what you want that's on you, but none of us kids want that, and now you got my sister behind bars because of your choices, why don't you let that sit on you as a mom."
