Inaugural Lanarkshire beer festival is a success thanks to beer lovers

Beer loving residents enjoyed the Rutherglen Ale Festival last weekend.

The festival was organised by the town's rotary club in collaboration with CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) which has hosted similar events around the UK.

A number of feature beers were available such as McColl’s, Overtone, Hesket Newmarket, Lakes, Local Lomond, Kelburn and Fallen.

The festival also saw the launch of the Old Jock Blonde beer from Broughton Brewery.

Andrew Cattanach from Rutherglen Rotary Club told Lanarkshire Live : “The two days went well with many fans of real ale attending to enjoy a wide range of both keg and cask beers.

“Our president Eddie Goldberg said he was delighted with the success and pleased that another event will be contributing to helping local good causes.

“He was keen to thank the members of CAMRA, in particular Jonathan Kemp, for their efforts in making it an enjoyable and worthwhile event and hoped that a similar one can be arranged in the future.”

The Rotary Club plans to donate proceeds from the event to local charities in the area to give back to the community and also plan to host more events later in the year.
