A care home has closed it's doors after being held to account by a health watchdog.
The Willow Lodge in Ormskirk is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 22 people and support to older people living with dementia. At the time of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, 11 people were using the service.
The care home was inspected after being rated as 'inadequate' last year and has once again received the lowest rating from the CQC. The owner decided to close the nursing home "in the days following the inspection" according to the report.

The report also stated "people were not safe and were at risk of avoidable harm" and the registered provider "had failed to ensure effective oversight of risks, quality of care and the environment."
It said: "We observed fire doors wedged open which was observed at the last inspection. We found that the medicine room was unlocked and there were used razors stored in there. We found an unlocked cupboard in the medicine room which stored topical creams and fortified drinks.
"There was a high reliance on the use of agency to fill nursing staff gaps. This caused issues with consistency. A relative told us, "There are so many different staff coming and going, not the permanent staff, they use a lot of agency staff and I am not sure they always know the needs of [my relative]."
However, the report also said that the staff "respected people's privacy and dignity" and were "friendly and treated people well". This was an improvement for the care home, in the last report, it was noted that some people were not treated correctly.
The report also looked into how 'well led' the service was it said: "There were widespread and significant shortfalls in service leadership. Leaders and the culture they created did not assure the delivery of high-quality care.
"At our last 3 inspections, the registered provider failed to assess and monitor the quality and safety of the service provided and to mitigate risks relating to the health, safety, and welfare of people who lived at the home."
While the report states that Willow Lodge has been closed down, the report has put the care home into special measures until the closure has been finalised.
Willow Lodge have been approached for a comment.
