'In that order' - Sergio Aguero names former Liverpool player among best strikers in history

Sergio Aguero has named former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as the third-best striker of all time.

The Uruguayan, who now plies his trade in the Brazilian top-flight with Gremio, spent three-and-a-half years at Anfield after signing from Ajax on the final day of the January transfer window in 2011.

During his time on Merseyside, Suarez established himself as one of the Premier League's finest marksmen as he fired 82 goals for the Reds across all competitions. His off-the-cuff knack and street-like style ensured his brilliance under Brendan Rodgers would be talked about long after his days with Liverpool.

In the 2013/14 Premier League season, despite missing the first five games of the season due to a 10-game suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in the previous April, Suarez equalled the Premier League's record for the number of goals in a 38-game season (31) as Liverpool finished two points behind Manchester City in their quest for a first league title since 1990. In fact, in the nine years since, only Mohamed Salah (32) and Erling Haaland have posted a better return (36).

However, that would prove to be his last season at Anfield as Barcelona secured the forward's services in a deal worth £75m in the summer of 2014 despite Suarez serving a four-month ban from football for this time biting Giorgio Chiellini in a match between Uruguay and Italy at the World Cup.

During his time in England, though, Aguero and Suarez faced each other on countless occasions as Manchester City and Liverpool battled it out in the Premier League before Suarez moved to the La Liga giants and later scored 193 goals during his six years at the Nou Camp.

And as a result of Suarez's ingenuity, the former Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona man has named the former Liverpool great as one of the top three forwards of all time - behind Thierry Henry and Ronaldo Nazario.

Replying to a question sent in by a fan during a Q and A session on his Twitch channel, Aguero said: "Top 3 strikers in history? Ronaldo Nazario, Thierry Henry and Luis Suárez. In that order."
