Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko and their son, Prince Hisahito, watched the final rounds of an Ogura hyakunin isshu card game tournament being played by high school students in a gym in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, on Tuesday. The competition was part of the 46th All Japan Senior High School Cultural Festival, which is being held in Tokyo this year.
In the final rounds, 16 teams of five players each fought over cards in one-to-one face-offs. The Imperial family members were seen asking many questions to their accompanying guides as they observed the games.
They later visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Taito Ward, Tokyo, to see the works of high school students in calligraphy, photography, fine art and crafts exhibitions that were also part of the festival.
"I myself belonged to the school photography club when I was in high school, so I really enjoyed seeing the works," Crown Prince Akishino said after viewing the photography exhibition.
