After weeks of climbing on several different charts, Imagine Dragons’ latest single “Whatever It Takes” has finally reached the top spot on the genre-specific Hot Rock Songs, which measures the most popular rock tracks in the U.S. every week. With another leader to their credit, the popular band has earned new spots in the history books and proven themselves to be one of the most popular and successful acts in rock music today.

“Whatever It Takes” is the fourth No. 1 on that particular tally for Imagine Dragons, which moves them into first place when it comes to the acts with the most chart-toppers. Before this week, the band was tied with three other groups, but now Imagine Dragons alone claims the most rulers on the Hot Rock Songs listing.

The group was on the same level as three bands that have all managed to place a trio of hit songs at No. 1 on the list—Linkin Park (“New Divide,” “The Catalyst” and “Burn It Down”), Twenty One Pilots (“Stressed Out,” “Ride” and “Heathens”) and Foo Fighters (“Wheels,” “Rope” and “Walk”)—but now Imagine Dragons have no peers when it comes to this specific charting accomplishment. Those groups still have a chance at matching Imagine Dragons when they release new projects, as they only trail by one special cut.

Imagine Dragons first topped the Hot Rock Songs ranking in 2013 with their breakout smash “Radioactive,” which became a global phenomenon and broke a number of chart records during its time in the spotlight. Since that track rose and fell, the band has released plenty of singles and even another album, but it wasn’t until last year, when they started promoting their current full-length Evolve, that they made it back to No. 1.

Since Evolve was released, they have scored three additional leaders on the list, starting with “Believer.” That track was in charge for months, and it eventually stepped aside to allow Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” to rule, though that tenure was short, and it wasn’t long before Imagine Dragons were back at the peak with their next proper single, “Thunder.” They have now replaced themselves, pushing “Thunder” off the throne to make room for “Whatever It Takes,” which will likely remain where it has landed for at least a handful of frames until it also relents, perhaps eventually for their even more recent single, “Next to Me,” which was released just a little over a month ago.
