The Beatles are undoubtedly one of the biggest acts of all time.
The four lads from Liverpool went on to capture the hearts of millions, if not billions, across the globe for years. Their influence changed music forever.
But what if the Fab Four simply didn't exist? This premise was explored in the 2019 film Yesterday where the protagonist wakes up after an accident to find that he is the only person who knows about the Liverpool band.

This idea was also explored on website Medium by journalist Noah Nelson. He believes if the band had never formed, the four lads would have still been part of the British invasion - albeit as part of different groups.
He said: "The Beatles had such a monumental sound that hadn’t been done before. In many ways, it still hasn’t been done since. Nevertheless, the music wouldn’t be the same if the four men had played with other bands.
"When together, they each brought their own sounds and style to mesh together and make a beautiful sound. If never a band, each of the four men would have contributed their sound and style, but it wouldn’t be that of the Beatles, a sound so irreplaceable even today."
GQ Magazine also considered the possibility, describing the irreplaceability of the Fab Four, they said: "Very few artists appear absolutely irreplaceable in hindsight...
"The Beatles, however, created their own vacancy. As Rob Sheffield writes in his wonderful book Dreaming The Beatles : “The Beatles invented most of what rock stars do. They invented breaking up. They invented drugs. They invented long hair, going to India, having a guru, round glasses, solo careers, beards, press conferences, divisive girlfriends, writing your own songs, funny drummers.
"They invented the idea of assembling a global mass audience and then challenging, disappointing, confusing this audience. As far as the rest of the planet is concerned, they invented England.”
Personally, it is difficult to imagine a world without the Beatles and the ramifications this would cause, a few questions spring to mind. Who would have sparked the British Invasion?
