Images show the devastating aftermath of a suspected arson attack on a Cardiff building

Footage has emerged of fire crews attending a burning building on a residential street in Cardiff. The cause of the fire has been deemed as "deliberate", according to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Fire crews attended the scene on Inverness Place on Saturday night after receiving reports of a fire. A tweet posted on July 16 shows fire crews using a hose on the burning building in the Roath area of the city. A later tweet from I Loves the 'Diff responding to the video showed the aftermath of the fire, with a police cordon pictured around the house and debris outside the burnt-out building.

The tweet read: "Today’s aftermath. A hazard and blocking the pavement. The idiot arsonists (who it doesn’t seem entered the property) only partly to blame. Whoever is dumping the stuff also needs to be held to account. Feel sorry for the police posted to the scene in the sweltering heat."

Crews from Cardiff Central and Roath station attended the scene and extinguished the fire using specialist equipment. The incident concluded at approximately 11:22pm. The supposed cause has been deemed as deliberate."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "The venue is a derelict building and has been such for the last two years.
