An Airbnb guest is fighting back against the rental giant after receiving a massive bill from a recent visit.

Amy Peto took a trip to Douglas, Michigan, where she and some friends rented a vacation home through Airbnb. She told ABC Chicago that the trip was nearly perfect, until she received the bill. When she got home, Peto found an invoice for more than $18,000 from their Airbnb host.

"I read this review and my stomach just dropped," she told the station. The review read, "Amy made huge damage to the house that will result in very expensive repairs. Horrible guests."

Included was an image of a large hole in the bathtub, which Peto told ABC Chicago that she thought "looks like a sledgehammer." She added, "This is not damage that we did."

Peto said that the more she read the review, the angrier she got.

"He's having me not just repair the bathtub, but pay for his plumbing fixtures, his tile, his glass door, painting, management fee, plumbing, trash and demo to the tune of $18,820," Peto told ABC Chicago. "As soon as I saw this, I knew exactly what he was doing. He's trying to get some fool, who wasn't going to be me, pay for his bathroom remodel, because his house was on the market for $1.5 million. You messed with the wrong girl."

Peto said the Airbnb host never responded to her attempts at contacting him. She ended up reaching out to Airbnb to fight the charges and after several weeks going back and forth, the company accepted her appeal and Peto did not have to pay the charges.

However, Airbnb told ABC Chicago, "The host provided evidence to support the claim, and our team did not find any evidence to suggest that this host was committing fraud."

The host is still listed online as a Superhost, which Airbnb describes on their website as "a host that goes above and beyond to provide excellent hospitality."
