An Illinois man is facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly killing his uncle with a crossbow during an argument on Christmas Eve.
The tragic incident occurred Dec. 24 at the home the two men shared in the 200 block of North Clinton Avenue in Bradley, Illinois, the Daily Journal reported.
According to police, 25-year-old Joshua Zilm and his 37-year-old uncle Scott McLain had been arguing earlier that day. Zilm reportedly felt mistreated by his uncle and said "he was tired of it."
After McLain retreated to his room, Zilm retrieved a crossbow, loaded it, and waited for McLain to come out.
Zilm allegedly lured his uncle out by slamming his door, and when McLain emerged, Zilm shot him once in the chest.
McLain was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. Zilm was arrested and is currently detained while awaiting trial.
