Illinois Judge Removes Trump From State's Ballot

An Illinois judge has recently made the decision to remove Donald Trump from the state's ballot, following a similar move by Colorado. Both states' actions are currently under review by the Supreme Court, with a ruling expected in the coming months. The U.S. Supreme Court has also agreed to hear Trump's appeal regarding potential immunity from prosecution related to his actions on January 6th.

This development represents a significant procedural victory for Trump, as the Supreme Court will now consider arguments on presidential immunity in April, with a ruling anticipated by the end of June. Consequently, the case involving Jack Smith in the D.C. circuit is likely to be delayed until mid-summer due to these proceedings.

Colorado also took similar action against Trump.

If Trump is granted immunity by the Supreme Court, it could potentially lead to the dismissal of Jack Smith's case related to the events of January 6th. Conversely, an unfavorable ruling would result in the trial continuing in Washington, D.C. However, due to the various appeals, motions, and delays involved, it is possible that the trial may not conclude before the upcoming election.
