Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a potential Democratic vice presidential candidate, made light of the ongoing speculation surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate selection. In an interview with MSNBC, Pritzker confirmed that he has been approached about the possibility of being the vice presidential candidate. He referenced reports of other contenders adjusting their schedules as the decision looms.
The Harris campaign has announced that the chosen running mate will make their first public appearance at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Pritzker humorously mentioned the Lollapalooza music festival taking place in Chicago over the weekend, where he and many others will be in attendance.
Pritzker quipped about cancelling his plans to perform with Blink-182 on Sunday, in jest of other governors who have altered their weekend schedules. Despite the light-hearted comments, a spokesperson clarified that the governor does not have any official public appearances scheduled for the weekend.
This comes in the wake of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg adjusting their plans for the weekend, possibly in anticipation of Harris' imminent decision. The political landscape remains dynamic as speculation continues to swirl around potential vice presidential candidates.
