Ilkay Gundogan to snub Arsenal transfer interest and join Barcelona from Man City

Barcelona are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan.

The Germany international will soon be out of contract with the treble winners, who had offered the 32-year-old a one-year extension.

Arsenal and clubs in the lucrative Saudi Pro League hold an interest in the midfielder but it is Barca who are set to complete a deal.

Former club Borussia Dortmund had also expressed an interest in the player, though Gundogan ruled out a return while away on international duty.

City are set to sign Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic as a replacement after striking a deal with the Blues worth in the region of an initial £25m.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have reached an agreement with their west London counterparts over a £65m move for Kai Havertz.

The Gunners are also ready to make a third bid to sign Declan Rice and retain an interest in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
