Shopping at IKEA is often somewhat of a day out, with a huge store to navigate and some iconic Swedish meatballs to treat yourself to once you've picked up what you need.
And while many enjoy an IKEA outing, few would want to return the following day due to a furniture part being broken. However, many may not realise that this doesn't have to be the case, as IKEA has a clever policy if a furniture part is missing or broken.
Money saving expert Faares, who posts on TikTok under the username @faaresq, recently showed this policy for broken parts that some may not be aware of, writes The Mirror.
The money ace did so in a skit where he appeared as both cashier and customer. Playing the customer, Faares asks the cashier whether they could return an item, to which the cashier replies: "Sure, is everything okay?"
In response, the customer explained: "Yeah, just one of the pieces broke as I was putting it together." The cashier replies: "Oh yeah, you don’t need to return the whole thing. I’ll just get you a new piece."
The surprised customer asked exactly how much they owed for the part, but the cashier told them: "Oh nothing, it’s free!
"Yeah, we offer free replacement parts on all of our products, even if you bought something last year and one of the pieces ended up breaking, we’d still get you a replacement part for free.
"That way you don’t need to buy a whole new thing."
The post clearly went down well with IKEA shoppers as it received 4.8 million views and more than 366,000 likes. Some TikTok users took to the comments to share their thoughts including one who called the hack "amazing".
One impressed follower commented: "This is why IKEA is the best," while another said: "This is why I love IKEA! I had a wardrobe that had a design flaw and most of the wood ended up breaking. They picked it up for free and refunded it!"
An IKEA spokesperson told the Daily Record: "IKEA is proud to provide spare parts to our customers free of charge in the UK and Ireland, allowing thousands of products to be saved.
"Repairing rather than replacing your furniture is not only kinder to the planet, but great for your wallet too!
"Initiatives such as our free spare parts service are one of the many ways we are contributing in our ambition to be circular and climate positive by 2030, as we strive to make circularity more convenient and accessible for our customers."
