IKEA Bristol will screen Christmas films in store and offer kids' meals for under £1

IKEA Bristol is screening Christmas films in its canteen and offering cut-price kids' meals as part of a festival to see in the festive shopping period. IKEA Family members can sign up to the activities for free, and although the four film showings look to have already been booked up online, there are other events including craft sessions and 'breakfast with Santa'.

Announcing the Winter Festival today (Tuesday, November 22), an IKEA spokesperson said: "Film viewings will take place in the store restaurant and Family members are invited to get comfortable under twinkling lights, wrapped up in cosy blankets." Anyone who missed out on the activities can still make use of the food offer, including customers without IKEA Family membership.

It includes a kids' pasta dish with tomato sauce and a soft drink, which is being sold in the restaurant for 95p. According to IKEA that's a 70 per cent saving, with the meal usually priced at £2.20 plus an extra £1 for the drink. All other children’s meals can be picked up for £1.50 with fruit and a refillable drink included, saving more than £2 off the usual price.

The Christmas events in store started yesterday and will run until Christmas Eve. Bauble decorating and face painting are among the free drop-in events, while other 'grotto workshop' sessions - like gingerbread decorating and wreath making - have to be booked online.

Andrias O'Shaughnessy, store manager at IKEA Bristol, said: "The lead-up to the festive season is full of excitement for everyone – especially little ones. While we’ll all be tightening our wallets a bit more this festive season, we’re delighted to be hosting a series of free activities as part of the IKEA Winter Festival, to help families to enjoy an affordable and fun day out with us this winter."

From November 25, customers can also purchase a real fir tree at IKEA for £25 and receive a £10 gift voucher to redeem in stores between January 9-15. The offer is only available in stores, with the Greenwich and Hammersmith branches excluded from the deal.
