Ifan Phillips gets new leg and foot 100 days on from motorbike accident that changed his life

Ifan Phillips has been fitted with a prosthetic leg and foot 100 days on from the motorbike accident that cut short his rugby career.

The Ospreys hooker and Wales Under-20s international saw his rugby playing dreams ended following a collision on December 5 while riding his motorbike in Swansea. He was rushed to Morriston Hospital but doctors were unable to save his leg, with an above-the-knee amputation performed.

In the aftermath, a JustGiving page was set up to help the 25-year-old during his rehabilitation. A target of £100,000 was set to support him and his family and to pay for anything he would need in his recovery.

Now, a full 100 days since the accident, Phillips posted a picture of Instagram with his new leg and foot.

He wrote: "100 days post accident. New leg, new foot. Thank you pro active @proactiveprosthetics."

The JustGiving fundraising total currently stands at just over £77,000. You can find the crowdfunding page here.

Last month, Phillips posted a message of thanks to the page, revealing that donations meant he was able to receive his prosthetic leg much sooner.

"As most of you are aware I was recently involved in a motorbike accident," he wrote. "The response to the justgiving page set up by my close friend has been truly overwhelming. Just to let you know that due to everyone's kind donations I am able to receive my prosthetic leg sooner than anticipated. My heartfelt thanks go to all who have donated. The justgiving page will therefore be coming down in the next few days. Diolch o waelod calon i bawb. I shall keep you all updated."
