If Rangers board rearrange a few letters they'll land perfect next boss and swerve Beale disaster - Hotline

Another day for Rangers fans awaiting confirmation of their club’s new manager and another day of Hotline discussion on the situation.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s dismissal has left the vacancy which Ibrox chiefs are still working to fill. Punters have a variety of views on who should get the job with QPR manager Michael Beale still at the top of the list. Eddie Easson, Ballingry, pointed back to Beale’s appearance at a Rangers match just weeks before van Bronckhorst’s sacking. He said: “The Rangers board will show their true class if and when they appoint Beale. GVB must’ve known what was going on. Did the inept board expect him to walk? GVB kept his pride and basically said sack me and pay the cost. Now Rangers have problems everywhere. All self-inflicted. Good luck with Beale, a novice manager who is being found in the Championship.”

Paul McArdle, Gourock, added: “How utterly desperate are QPR to get Beale out the door to Rangers? He will be a 100 percent disaster. Another treble coming to Celtic.” But Archie Carter, Glasgow , said: “Rangers are right to take their time and it was obvious that Beale did a great job working with Steven Gerrard. He knows the club and is a fine choice.”

James Forsyth, Bellshill, has a suggestion for the backroom unit as he said: “No matter who Rangers appoint as manager they must look at Neil McCann to be part of the staff. He has knowledge of what it means to play for the club and the aggression to make the players sit up.”

Alan Flett emailed: “As a Rangers fan I just feel a sense of frustration. If we could just get our act together, Celtic are there for the taking. If we can get the right manager and give him the tools to do the job, there is no reason why we can’t dominate the Scottish game. My choice would be Marcelo Bielsa. He would go toe to toe with Celtic and would surely attract a better quality of player to the club.”

Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, had a message surrounding the playing staff as he said: “Putting all the serious problems that’s going on at Rangers aside for the moment, it’s nice to see a bright spot on the horizon with young Ianis Hagi set to return after serious injury. It’s good to hear he’s almost ready, with his clever ball skills he can be a game winner which Rangers badly missed. His dad, one of the best I’ve watched, will be pleased.”

Aside from the managerial situation at Ibrox, it is the World Cup which is dominating the attention of many fans.

Lewis Doyle, Tipperary, said: “When you see the level of technique from the players at this World Cup and consider those Scots who play in the English Premier League who are carried in their respected teams every week, this must be one of the best World Cups ever for Scotland. We have not lost a game, not conceded any goals, well done boys keep it up.”

But Lenny McGill, Edinburgh, said: “It’s rubbish watching this World Cup without Scotland. I was so jealous of the Welsh fans at that game against Iran. The whole country was buzzing for it and we’re stuck with no-one to support. Again.”

Kevin Lord, Drylaw, has a theory on the length of injury time being played in games. FIFA say it is to add on for time-wasting amongst other things, but he said: “Who's kidding who? All the added time is to give the advertisers more air time. Not to enhance the game or the spectator's experience.”
