Whenever I’m struggling and going through hard times, I always remember a phrase said by Armando Christian Pérez, one of the greatest poets of our time. “Every day above ground is a great day. Remember that,” he said. For years, these wise words by Pérez — who has been there, done that — have been a guiding light for me. However, I’m starting to lose faith. Let me explain.
Pérez is better known by his stage name Pitbull or even his moniker, Mr Worldwide. But despite being praised for his globe-trotting sensibilities, Pitbull has not come to Australia since 2012 — so at what point do we revoke his Mr Worldwide card?

The American rapper is admittedly a man of many names. After gaining traction following his 2004 track “305 Anthem”, Pitbull gained the nickname Mr. 305, in reference to the Miami post code he grew up in.
Over the next decade, Pitbull collaborated with artists such as Kesha, Lil Jon, Jennifer Lopez and Dolly Parton, just to name a few. With his star power on the rise, Pitbull found himself performing with huge names around the world. And for him, the name Mr Worldwide became a signifier that he’d made it.
“Mr. 305 has graduated to Mr. Worldwide,” he told the American Way in 2017.
“I am really living the American dream. I work very hard to develop a business that five, six, seven generations of my family can enjoy.”
Speaking to CNN, Pitbull said he still has universe-conquering aspirations.
“If you don’t know where you’re from, you don’t know where you’re going,” Pitbull explained.
“When I say Mr. Worldwide, it’s because we’re all around the world. Now, we’ve got to think of another name like ‘Mr. Another Planet’ or something.”
Despite the recent Pitbull resurgence on TikTok, prompting thousands upon thousands of fans to chuck on a suit and a bald cap and head to a Pitbull gig, there’s one rather large island continent that Mr 305 is ignoring — little ol’ Australia.
The last time Pitbull decided to give us a bit of international love was in 2012 for his Planet Pit World tTur. Then, he was meant to return with Kesha in 2013, but the tour was cancelled due to whispers of poor sales.
Since then, there has been no hints that the talented bald icon will be making his way Down Under, despite significant interest.
Now, after 12 years without the return of my personal prodigal son, I think we turn to petty threats to encourage Pitbull to come Down Under for a series of shows.
Being a fan is enough anymore, my friends. It’s time for threats.
Personally, I’ve been very vocal about this on TikTok, and as a result, my inbox has been flooded with scammers impersonating Pitbull.
Admittedly, I’ve had a little bit of fun responding, BUT just on the off chance that it is the real Pitbull, I’ve taken the liberty of asking when he might consider an Australian tour.

Pitbull, if you’re reading this, the Australians love you.
Please keep the Mr. Worldwide legacy truly and authentically alive by bringing the Party After Dark Tour Down Under. Our noggins crave bald caps, and our bodies thirst for the Latin-inspired drum beats of the Party After Dark Tour.
Dalé!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
