Liverpool have been told by one of their former players that they should consider selling Naby Keita this summer.
Reports emerged on Wednesday from Germany that claimed Keita was unhappy with the negotiations over a new Reds deal, suggesting they had broken down while hinting he could leave before the transfer window closes on September 1. The 27-year-old's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
As things stand, Keita would be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1 unless fresh terms are agreed. The Guinea international joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £52.75m in the summer of 2018, after a deal was agreed the previous summer.

The ECHO understands the Reds have received no indication of Keita being discontent with his situation, and maintain a good relationship with the player and his representatives. With Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp short of midfield options due to an injury crisis, it seems highly unlikely he would sanction the sale of Keita this summer regardless of the player’s contract situation.
However, former Reds defender Jose Enrique believes that if Keita is unhappy, then the club should consider selling the midfielder this summer.
“If he is not happy, sell him this summer and at least we get some money,” Enrique wrote on Instagram, referring to Keita.
“(Manchester) United are looking to pay £80million for Casemiro. Listen, United, £40million (for Keita), half price, younger player.”
