Idris Elba tells the Loose Women he doesn't get why people think he's sexy

Voted the 'sexiest man alive' by People magazine in 2018, Idris Elba still doesn't get it. Speaking to Loose Women about voicing the animated character of Knuckles in the upcoming new movie Sonic 2, Idris admitted he thinks he sounds like a market trader.

Ruth Langford commented on Idris's 'distinctive' voice and how fans describe it as being 'sexy', even when it's the animated character of Knuckles, and Idris said: “I’m baffled. I think I sound like a market trader from Canning Town. ‘Get your fish here, £10!’ That’s expensive fish, but I don’t necessarily think my voice is sexy… but, hey, I’ll take the compliment.”

Idris also spoke about his podcast, Coupledom, which he works on with his wife Sabrina. Ruth asked if talking to other couples has helped with Idris’s relationship with his wife, and he said: “We really have talked to some incredible partners and each one of those people have given us tidbits for our own lives, but also for people who listen to the podcast.”

He added, “It’s definitely given us a lot of insight about our own relationship and it’s weird because talking to people about their relationship, you have to offer up quite a bit about your own personal relationship and that’s been quite liberating for us.”

Presenter Kellé Brian asked Idris about taking a step back from acting and moving into music, and he revealed: “I’m not giving up acting, but I’m certainly going to put out more music. And I love the process of making music.” On turning 50 later this year, Idris said, “I am 50. Honestly, I can’t even believe it, I still feel like I’m 35, even though I don’t look it.”

And on what the future holds for him, Idris revealed: “I get such joy out of raising awareness on things that are slipping under the radar. Having a voice in the fight against knife crime is really important. Slowly and slowly, I can see increments of my voice or our input into that debate making some changes, at least helping some people, at least comforting some people that have lost people to knife crime.”
