Idles named in line-up for brand new Edinburgh music festival

Idles will headline Connect Music Festival on Friday 26 August, fresh from their high-octane set at this year’s Coachella festival

CONNECT Music Festival has announced that Idles will join the line-up at the debut Edinburgh festival.

The British-Irish rock band will headline the Grand Parade stage Friday 26 August, fresh from their set at this year’s Coachella festival which was named one of the top memorable moments by Rolling Stone magazine.

Taking place from August 26-28 at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre Showground, the newest addition to Scotland’s festival calendar offers a “new festival experience that will unite some of the most influential and truly pioneering names in music from around the world with the very best of Scotland’s homegrown heroes” according to event organisers.

Acts including Jon Hopkins and Black Coffee plus Oscar-nominated Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler join Idles at the festival. 

Home-grown sensation Joesef has also been announced to perform on Friday 26 August.

The Glaswegian singer-songwriter, who sold out Glasgow institution King Tut’s before he had released any music online, said: “Really buzzing to play Connect Festival. It's really cool being in amongst such an amazing line-up, many of whom have inspired me massively.

“Canny wait.”

The weekend’s festivities will take place across three stages. Other acts performing across the weekend include The National, Mogwai, Bombay Bicycle Club, Little Simz, Self Esteem, Black Country, New Road, and Rae Morris.
