'Idiots talking rubbish' - Everton sent blunt Viktor Gyokeres transfer message

Coventry City boss Mark Robins has rubbished reports linking Everton with a move for Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres impressed at the Sky Blues last season, scoring 17 times and claiming a further five assists across 41 starts for Robins’ side in the Championship. The forward was also on target in his side’s opening game of the new season against Sunderland earlier this month.

That impressive form has led to speculation linking Gyokeres with a summer move to Goodison Park over the past couple of days. But when asked about the reports on Wednesday night, Robins claimed the speculation was from 'idiots' who were talking 'rubbish'.

“I think this is what you get in the window, idiots talking rubbish and there’s absolutely zero truth in things. So as far as I know there’s nothing in that,” he told Coventry Live.

“I think that people are up to no good. There are a lot of mischief makers at this time of year so we have just got to put it down to that. If there’s anything to tell you I’ll tell you about it but at the moment there’s absolutely zero happening.”

Before Robins added: “Viktor is really settled but you are always at the mercy of predators. Everyone up and down the country is the same, even the top clubs are selling players and having to rebuild.

“It’s about the timing of things, the value and circumstances, and if all those things align then players move on, but I am not just talking about Viktor, I am talking about everyone.

“You look at Man City this year, they have had a churn and brought others in, and Liverpool are the same in a slightly different way. We are always looking at what’s next and it is what it is. That’s the nature of the beast.”
