Joining us now from Tel Aviv himself, the IDF spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, provided insight into the recent incident that occurred in the northern Gaza Strip. The IDF had coordinated a convoy of over 30 trucks carrying humanitarian goods for the people in need in that region. As the convoy passed through Israeli positions and continued north, a large group of individuals stormed the trucks, resulting in a chaotic situation where people were trampled and run over.
Separately, in a different location further south, individuals approached IDF forces despite warning shots being fired in the air. Given the volatile nature of the combat zone and the presence of explosive devices planted by Hamas terrorists, the IDF perceived the approaching individuals as a threat. Tragically, a number of individuals were killed or wounded in this incident.
The IDF emphasized the challenges they face in balancing operational activities in a combat zone while ensuring the flow of humanitarian supplies into Gaza.
