The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Thursday that they had successfully eliminated a prominent Palestinian battle commander, as confirmed by Palestinian sources.
The IDF announced that they had killed Palestinian terrorist Muhhamad Jabber, also known as 'Abu Shujaa,' during a counterterrorism operation in Tulkarm. According to the IDF, Jabber was the head of a terrorist network in Nur Shams and was involved in carrying out multiple terrorist attacks, including a deadly shooting in June that resulted in the death of Israeli civilian Amnon Muchtar.
The IDF stated that Jabber was among five terrorists who were hiding inside a mosque in Tulkarm when they were eliminated.
The media office of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department, confirmed the news of Jabber's death in an obituary statement on its Telegram channel.
The statement from the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine hailed Jabber as a martyr and commander of the Tulkarm Battalion of the Jerusalem Brigades.
These developments occur against the backdrop of the Israel-Hamas War approaching the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel last year. Israel remains on high alert due to the presence of Iran and other terrorist groups like Hezbollah in the region.
