Father of Idaho murder victim says ‘means of death’ do not match

Investigators trying to track down the killer of four University of Idaho students are now searching for the occupant or occupants of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra that was seen near the home at the time of the murders.

Moscow Police said on Wednesday that the vehicle was “in the immediate area” of the rental home on King Road in the early hours of 13 November, when Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were stabbed to death in their beds.

The occupant “may have critical information to share regarding this case,” police said, as they urged the public to come forward with information.

On Wednesday, police also addressed rumours about “hoodie guy” who was spotted on Twitch footage with Goncalves and Mogen at the Grub Truck. The man has been cleared a suspect but Goncalves’ father suggested he was ruled out too quickly and has since left the country.

Idaho State Police spokesperson Aaron Snell told The Independent that investigators are “aware of the rumours”, but did not confirm or deny them.

More than three weeks on from the slayings, no arrests have been made, no suspects named and the murder weapon has not been recovered.
