Idah not 'really that bothered' Celtic failed to sign a striker in January

Celtic striker Adam Idah 'wasn't really that bothered' that the club failed to sign another centre-forward in January.

Kyogo Furuhashi's departure to French side Rennes had been in the pipeline for a number of months, and Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers wanted to replace the Japanese frontman before Monday's transfer deadline.

His club failed to, though, with Rodgers openly admitting yesterday that his squad is 'lighter' going into the second half of this season than it was in the first.

Centre-forward Idah wasn't particularly annoyed that Celtic didn't sign a new striker, however: "I wasn't really that bothered," he said.

"We know Kyogo left and he was the main key player here. I guess some people probably thought they were going to bring in a striker, but at the end of the day, like I said, we've got plenty of other strikers in the building.

"We've got young lads, obviously myself. For us, like I said, it's doing the job and training and working hard and hopefully we can produce on the pitch."

Idah has come into form recently for his side, scoring three goals in his last two appearances across all competitions.

Along with the 23-year-old, Johnny Kenny is also available to Rodgers in attack, with young Daniel Cummings providing another option. Daizen Maeda can amply operate as a centre-forward, too.

It remains to be seen who will get the nod as Celtic host Dundee in the Scottish Premiership tonight, aiming to go 13 points clear of city rivals Rangers at the top of the table.
