Iconic television show Bullseye is ready to make a comeback – as a new range of beer.
The move might tempt fans to down their Bully Beer pints “iiinn one” as the popular darts game show put it.
Programme creator Andrew Wood will be hoping you can’t beat a bit of bully when he puts the brew into pubs and shops under the name of the famous mascot.
Bully was a cartoon brown bull, which was printed on beer tankards given to the losing contestants on the ITV production from 1981 to 1995.
Northern comedian Jim Bowen, who died in 2018 aged 80, was the genial host with an army of fans.
His catchphrases included “Look at what you could have won”, “Stay out of the black and into the red, nothing in this game for two in a bed” and “Super, smashing, great”.
Inspired by pub darts and quizzes, Bullseye involved three completing pairs, each made up of an amateur player and a novice. They would contest for Bully’s Prize Board – gifts such as a toaster or microwave.
Sports commentator Tony Green, would build up the drama by revealing possible prizes with his catchphrase, ‘iiinn one, iiinn two...”. The winning duo could gamble all their small prizes for the night’s big jackpot – Bully’s Star Prize Gamble.
It was famous for awarding contestants extravagant prizes, such as speedboats and caravans that were impossible to split between two contestants.
