Disney (DIS) -) fans flocking to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif. for Halloween festivities may be disappointed to find that one of their favorite attractions will be out of commission for the season. Space Mountain is officially closed for an extended period of time due to refurbishments.
With a name like “Space Mountain,” one would certainly hope for regularly occurring tune-ups and maintenance. The popular attraction will be open again on Friday, Oct. 27. That sure does give visitors a narrow window.

Typically, this time of year will see the attraction’s Halloween-themed decor going up. Normally, Space Mountain is home to the Ghost Galaxy overlay. This year, however, the indoor roller coaster and its haunted holiday theme will be missed.

The overarching theme of this particular ride update is aimed at preventing unexpected downtime. But it’s no secret that the attraction has been in need of some TLC in recent years. Several lights have reportedly gone out on the blue tunnel, dimming the shine of the popular Tomorrowland experience.
At the time of this writing, no major changes to the ride are being reported while it’s shut down for a sprucing up.
