AN iconic Glasgow nightclub is set to reopen for its first event eight years after closing its doors.
The Arches fell into administration in 2015 after the Glasgow licencing board imposed a midnight closing time on the venue.
Hailed as one of the best nightclubs in Scotland, The Arches was a hub for the electronic music scene.
Now, nine dance music events will see music return to the railway arches beneath Central Station from October 21.
Organisers the Watchtower Group say some of the world’s biggest DJs are set to welcome back clubbers to the venue under the series of events titled New World.
The line-up is expected to be announced on Tuesday, however the Watchtower Group have confirmed that a 2am licence has already been granted.
The group’s founder, Tom Ketley, told the BBC said the news will mean a lot to partygoers who have fond memories of the venue.
“This project is of huge cultural significance for music in Glasgow, Scotland and beyond,” he said. “Seeing the unfortunate closure of numerous venues in recent years has been hard on the industry.
"The venue's history is renowned, and it holds a special place in people's hearts, so we know that today's news will mean so much to so many.
"Glasgow is legendary for having one of the best crowds in the world and our aim is to champion that by attracting dance music fans from all over the UK and beyond."
Ketley hinted that some of the acts set to play were Scottish and may even have played in the venue before.
