An Edinburgh resident has caught Netflix film crews working on Edinburgh’s popular Victoria Street.
A local author caught the film crews on Victoria Street with lighting apparatus and equipment in front of the brightly coloured buildings after dark Sunday evening.
“I’m not sure what was being filmed,” Alex Penland said, posting the photo on Facebook from Sunday.
However, Film Edinburgh, the film office to Edinburgh, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders, confirmed that Netflix crews were in Edinburgh to film a brand new drama called ‘Midtown,’ formerly called ‘Supacell.’

The streaming entertainment service said the series follows a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers.
“They have little in common except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners. It is down to one man, Michael Lasaki, to bring them all together in order to save the woman he loves,” Netflix said in August.
Rapman, a British rapper, record producer, actor, writer and film director of Blue Story fame, is the Showrunner, Creator and Lead Director for Midtown.
In August, Netflix said the show will “be giving Black creatives the opportunity to break into the TV industry through the Supacell Six scheme. The initiative, founded by Rapman, New Wave and Netflix will give six chosen candidates the opportunity to grow in their chosen field through shadowing crew, access to experts in their field and additional upskilling courses.”
The Supacell Six include; Jessica Magaye, Ricardo McCleary - Campbell, Saraphina Mattis, Melissa Simon-Hartman, Cleo Young and Micheal Ademilua.
The currently in production series does not have a release date as of yet.
