Longtime owner Kenny Leadingham confirmed to Edinburgh Live hew has no plans for the business to close but is selling the bakery as a going concern to a new owner.
He has owned the bakery for the past 42 years and is finally taking his retirement after a successful run of the popular business.
He said: “I can confirm Storries is not closing down despite the rumours. I am finally retiring after 42 years.”
The bakery is being sold for £385,000 and is advertising for someone to take the business over as it is.
The iconic institution is popular in Edinburgh due to its reliability for comforting food at any hour of the day or night.
The only takeaway open 24 hours a day in Leith, it can always be counted on for a warm sausage roll, pies, cakes and bread at 3am - if that's your schedule.
Known for its reasonably priced and cheerful pastry goods, you can get yourself some bargains with a late night treat of a pie and an éclair for under a fiver.
The sign has remained unchanged for the past 42 years and the shop has a nostalgic energy to it that cannot be matched.
Hopefully the new owners will keep the traditional style of the bakery that is much loved by the people of Edinburgh.
