Cardiff club night Enter the Dragon, a must for dance music lovers of the early 2000s, is back for a night of beats and mayhem for the first time in 20 years this September. On Saturday, September 23, the legendary club night, whose home was Vision2k on Queen Street, will return with a huge event featuring some of the DJs responsible for the brand's biggest and best parties before the club closed in 2003.
Mauro Picotto, known as The Lizard Man, and ex-Radio 1 DJ Fergie, fresh from his residency in Las Vegas, will be gracing the Dragon’s hallowed decks again for the first time in 20 years. Clubbing lovers will be able to rave the night away, this time at an all-dayer (3pm-11pm) at Depot, where there'll also be incredible visual and sound production, stilt walkers, fire breathers, dancers, and other surprises harking back to the legendary era of dance music.
Also on the line-up with Picotto and Fergie are ETD founder, Jimpy, This Culture and Journey's Richie Knight. Enter the Dragon at Vision 2k was the destination in Cardiff for clubbers on a Friday night and was launched in January 2000 by superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold to a roadblock party of 2,000 people, Enter the Dragon became synonymous with hedonistic all-night weekly parties and attracted the cream of UK and international DJ talent and a resident team that always succeeded in delivering quality DJ sets.

The team behind the trance and dance event are DJ Jimpy and Andy Wheeler, and they explained why Enter the Dragon was so special: "They were special days, and I think we're still recovering.," said Andy. "Jim and I got together at that time; you could call it destiny as we just clicked, and we both wanted the same thing: putting on parties and smiling on everyone’s faces. It must have worked; we still want to do the same today. I guess that brings us to where we are in 2023!”
Jimpy added: “Over the years, during those halcyon days, we put on some great parties, and over the last few years, we have put on a few small Enter the Dragon reunion events with John 00 fleming and JFK, both of which were extremely busy and great fun.
"This year, we wanted to do something grander scale that takes us back to the more significant events we put on from 2000-2003. We sat down, went through a load of old flyers, and jogged the memory banks, and two DJ names kept coming up every time. One was Mauro Picotto, and the other was Fergie. We realised it was 20 years since both DJs played in Cardiff, and we thought it would be great if we could get them both to come back to pay for us."
Tickets for the Enter the Dragon event at Depot go on sale on Wednesday, March 29 via Skiddle, here. To get the latest email updates from the What's On WalesOnline team, click here.
