Iceland to give away another 40,000 vouchers worth £30 each - can you claim one?

Iceland is to give away another 40,000 food vouchers worth £30 each to help pensioners during the cost-of-living crisis.

The supermarket has been awarded a further £1m in funding through the Rothesay Foundation to offer another wave of vouchers, and pensioners are being encouraged to apply as quickly as possible because the vouchers will be distributed on a first come first served basis.

The deadline for applications is September 16, and the vouchers can be used on food and household items, although alcohol and tobacco are excluded. All vouchers expire at 11.59pm on December 31, 2022.

To qualify for the voucher, you must be of state pension age, living independently or with a carer and relying solely on state pensions and benefits. However, only those who live in one of 16 specific areas nationwide can apply, with the areas being Birmingham, Croydon, Glamorgan, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Huddersfield, Lambeth (London), Liverpool, Newcastle North, Newport, North Wales, Sheffield, Strathclyde, Sunderland, West Midlands and Wirral.

This is the second time Iceland has handed out the vouchers, which can be used in 269 of its 1,000+ stores. To claim a voucher call the Summer Cheer hotline on 0800 098 7877 (lines open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). Vouchers will arrive by post within seven days of application.

Richard Walker, Managing Director of Iceland Foods, told the Mirror: "Since the launch of the partnership last Christmas, the cost-of-living crisis has taken hold of the UK, and now more than ever, people are struggling to access the food they need. No one should ever have to worry about how they are going to eat or drink, and we hope that the support we can offer across the UK will help pensioners access and enjoy a worry-free meal during this difficult time."
