Iceland shoppers spot huge problem with 'fakeaway' meal

Iceland fans are divided after the supermarket shared a "fakeaway" meal on social media.

The supermarket is well known for its popular products, with customers often keen to snap up everything from baked goods to pizza and desserts. Now Iceland has shown shoppers how to make a Chinese fakeaway at home, and fans have been quick to comment.

The meal features egg fried rice, sweet and sour battered chicken, crispy pork belly slices, spring rolls, noodles, prawn crackers, noodles, crispy shredded chicken, salt and pepper chips, and curry sauce.

In a video on Instagram, Iceland showed how the "ULTIMATE fakeaway feast" can be made using products from its shelves and freezers. The total cost of the meal, which appears to serve two huge portions, comes in at around £26-30, depending on if items are bought in conjunction with other offers, though many items would not be used in full to make the dish.

Many fans have said how "delicious" the meal looks, though some have commented on the price and the effort it would take to recreate the meal.

In the comments section, Jenny said: "Comes in at 28 quid and that's not including the energy costs of cooking and washing, or the fry spray. For two people you may as well get an actual takeaway". Sally said: "How many pots and pans do you want to dirty making it?"

However, Bev tagged a friend and said: "Tea sorted next time I'm over lol", while Rachel said: "Delicious". Jamie said: "It's a bit of me".
