Iceland has issued an urgent recall for one of its chicken products which has been pulled from shelves as it may contain the presence of raw chicken.
The frozen foods supermarket giant has urgent recalled Iceland Ready Cooked Diced Chicken Breast (800g) as some of the packets may contain uncooked chicken, making them unsafe to eat. Products impacted by the recall will have a Best Before date of 17 June 2023. No other batches are said to be have been impacted by the recent recall.
An alert was issued to The Food Standards Agency (FSA) which has since warned customers not to eat the product as the presence of uncooked chicken poses a food safety risk.
Raw, undercooked chicken can be often contaminated with Campylobacter bacteria and sometimes with Salmonella and Clostridium perfringens bacteria, which could lead to food poisoning if consumed.
The FSA issues a recall when food has been pulled from store shelves if they have been found to have a problem which means that they should not be consumed by customers.
Shoppers are now being urged to return the affected packets to the Iceland store that they were purchased from for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
Iceland has issued point of sale customers to alert customers to what product has been recalled and what they should do if they have bought the affected product.
Worried customers can also contact Iceland's customer care service for more advice and information on 0800 328 0800 and selecting option 2.
