Iceland fans go wild for return of 'pure nostalgia' snack - but there's a twist

An iconic 90s brand has been spotted in Iceland stores and fans are going wild for the 'nostalgic' treat - but there's a new twist.

Hubba Bubba - yes, that Hubba Bubba - is set to introduce a new ice lolly just in time for summer.

In a first for the popular gum brand, fans will be able to enjoy Wrigley's iconic bubblegum flavour as a frozen treat.

Available exclusively in Iceland, according to the Grocery Gazette, the lollies are expected to be sold as a pack of four for £2.99, and shoppers can't wait to get their hands on the snacks after getting a first glimpse.

The foodies over at Newfoodsuk spotted the new treats in store this week and delivered a glowing review of the product on its social media pages.

Posting on Instagram, Newfoodsuk wrote: "New Hubba Bubba Ice Lollies!! Strong taste of bubblegum with a squishy layer at the bottom too! We found this today at @icelandfoods should be in all stores next week."

In the photo, the shopper also shows off one of the pink and purple lollies, which includes an 'awesomely squishy layer'.

Understandably, fans can't wait. Reacting to the news of the brand's reinvention, one shopper wrote: "These look lush." A second agreed: "Pure nostalgia mate, just need the weather for it now".

Meanwhile, several other people tagged their friends before excitedly planning trips to Iceland to find the lollies for themselves.

Elsewhere, Iceland shoppers have been raving about the supermarket's ready meals. When the Mirror's Courtney Pochin put the dishes to the test, she found three 'absolute standouts'.

"Of the 11 dishes I tried, there were three standout ones that I would happily eat again and a few that were perfectly fine for the price, but overall my tastebuds weren't exactly tantalised," she explained.
