Iceland cuts the price of 420 products to 1p for just one week

Frozen food specialist supermarket Iceland is allowing customers to pick up three items from their range for just 3p over the course of the following week. Shoppers who are struggling with the rising price of food shops will be able to take their pick of three from 420 products from the supermarket chain, priced at 1p each for a combined 3p.

However, this offer does not apply to customers who shop in-store. Only online customers who are arranging a delivery from Iceland will be able to scoop three items for a bargain price, The Mirror reports.

The deal, which comes in the countdown to payday for many customers, includes food shop essentials such as bread, butter, and milk. There will also be summer staples included in the deal, meaning online customers can buy treats like burger buns, ice cream cones and fizzy drinks for a discount price, alongside a selection of fresh, frozen and grocery items.

To get the money off their shop, Iceland customers need to add three products included in the deal to their order on the Iceland website. As they checkout, customers should then enter the promotional code 'ICEPENNY'.

This deal will allow customers to save 99p per product in their basket, given that the products in question originally cost £1. The promotion will run from June 18 until June 24 at midnight.

Last Christmas and Easter, the supermarket chain dropped the price of its vegetables to 1p, with almost 10,000 shoppers snapping up discount produce at Easter. Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland, said: “We’re continuing to work hard to ensure our customers are being supported as much as possible as the cost of living continues to rise and we hope our 3p everyday essentials sale will help a little this weekend.

“Our previous sales at Christmas and Easter were very popular and this time we’ve taken the decision to branch out and offer this deal on everyday essentials, as well as vegetables, to help our customers as we navigate through the cost-of-living crisis. We’re committed to helping our customers as much as we can at this difficult time and will continue to do so.”

Iceland grants customers who spend £40 online free next day delivery and, if you're shopping in-store, you can even have your groceries delivered that same day. The deal from Iceland comes as grocery analysts warned prices could rise by 15% this summer and leave shoppers skipping meals.

The Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD) said that households are set to pay more for essentials including dairy, bread and meat as inflation is predicted to hit 11% A typical family of four's shopping bills could rise as much as £40 per month, it warned.
