Iceland are selling baked bean-filled hash browns and they're surprisingly cheap

Iceland has announced an exclusive new item coming to its stores in early September, but it might be a bit of an acquired taste. The frozen food chain has released images of its new baked bean-filled hash browns and people are already desperate to try them.

The new delicacy is a collaboration with Heinz, meaning you're not just getting beans in your hash browns - you'll be getting Beanz, with a capital B. They'll be available in selected UK stores and online.

The supermarket chain said on Facebook: "[drum roll] Coming in early September... New and exclusive to Iceland... Please get your knives and forks ready for... HEINZ BEANZ FILLED HASH BROWNS!"

The biggest draw might be the price point - with a bag of Beanz-filled hash browns only costing £2 to begin with. The price will rise to £2.75 from Monday, September 12, so get in there early if you want to grab a bargain.

Iceland is no stranger to creative food mashups, having introduced chicken tikka to both pizza and lasagne in the past - but this new mashup is a step further. Most people were happy to hear about this latest collaboration, with hundreds saying they were looking forward to trying them.

Some questioned whether the new snacks would be gluten-free or vegan, with others suggesting Heinz could try doing the same with spaghetti hoops. Viki said: "I think I fancy them, they look lush," while Missy said: "Either a new favourite or a complete meltdown - either way worth a try."

Iceland has also made the news recently for offering interest-free loans to help shoppers with their cost of living. Managing Director of Iceland Foods, Richard Walker, said: “More than ever, people are struggling to purchase much needed everyday items during this relentless cost of living crisis, and fresh thinking is required by business and government to find workable solutions."
