Iceland and Tesco warn shoppers 'not to eat' two pasta and chocolate products

Shoppers at two of the UK's biggest supermarkets have been warned about two specific foods that may not be safe to eat. Iceland and Tesco have both stopped selling the affected products and are now offering refunds.

Tesco have recalled a pasta dish of Wicked Kitchen Spinach & Wild Garlic Ravioli. Iceland are no longer selling a line of Mars chocolate bars - both products have been slapped with 'do not eat' warnings as they could be unsafe to consume.

Tesco posted the update about the pasta product on its website. As reported by BirminghamLive, the notice reads: "We’re recalling one date code of Wicked Kitchen Spinach & Wild Garlic Ravioli 250g with a use by date of January 12, 2023, due to the possibility some packs may contain small pieces of metal.

"If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t consume it. Please return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given.

"No receipt is required." Only 250g packets with the specific use by date are being recalled.

Meanwhile, Iceland is recalling a line of Mars chocolate bars due to a mis-pack. This means the dessert bars could contain undeclared egg and peanut allergens.

The frozen food supermarket issued a warning, saying: "We are taking the precautionary measure of recalling this batch of the product because, due to a mis-pack, it may contain undeclared egg and peanut allergens, and therefore poses a potential risk to those people that have an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or peanuts. Only the best before date listed in this notice is affected."

It added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused." The recall relates to Mars Dessert Bars 600g with a use by date of February 23, 2024.

Anyone who has bought the affected product is urged not to eat it if they could have an allergy to egg or peanuts and instead return the item to any Iceland store - no receipt required - where a full refund will be given.
