U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently announced the successful removal of a 'foreign fugitive' wanted in Mexico on a rape charge. The individual in question, Raymundo Rojas Bacilio, a Mexican-born illegal immigrant, had a troubling history of criminal activities in the United States.
According to ICE sources, Rojas had been convicted of sexually abusing an 11-year-old child in America after being deported five times previously. ICE disclosed that Rojas was deported back to Mexico on January 25.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane emphasized the significance of removing Rojas, describing him as a 'sexual predator' whose repeated illegal entries and criminal acts posed a severe threat to community safety and security.

McShane reiterated ICE's commitment to pursuing and removing individuals like Rojas who endanger the American public.
Rojas' history of illegal entries into the U.S. dates back to May 2002 when he was first arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol near Douglas, Arizona. Despite voluntary returns to Mexico on three occasions, Rojas reappeared at the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, Arizona, in January 2012.
During this attempt, Rojas presented fraudulent documents, leading to his deportation to Mexico. However, he made another unsuccessful entry attempt just five days later using the same fraudulent documents.
Subsequently, Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for Rojas in May 2013 for rape. Despite this, Rojas managed to re-enter the U.S. without admission by an immigration official at an unknown date and location.
Rojas' criminal activities caught up with him when he was arrested by the New York Police Department in August 2023. He was later convicted of forcible touching of a minor and sentenced to incarceration, probation, and registration as a sex offender by the Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn in September 2024.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents in New York arrested Rojas outside his residence in Queens in December 2024, marking the culmination of efforts to bring him to justice.
