Ice-cream vendors have hit out at the quality of Cadbury flakes as trade begins in earnest for the summer.
The Cadbury flake has proved to be a contentious issue over past summers. Ice-cream trade was put under pressure last over fears a global shortage of flakes would ensue from production issues.
Ice-cream vendors are now suggesting that the quality of flakes has depleted in recent times. The Irish Mirror reports that the complaints began to circulate after Cadbury's parent company Mondelez International moved production to Egypt.

Vendors have said that flakes are now more crumbly than before, forcing them to discard more stock due to breakages. Mondelez has insisted that their flake recipe has not changed despite the production move.
Mondelez said in a statement: "Cadbury Flake 99 is a naturally delicate and crumbly product, and we have processes in place within our supply chain to avoid any breakage as much as possible.”
The news emerges as ice-cream sales ramp up for the summer season. Dublin is basking in sunshine as temperatures hover around the 20 degree mark.
