ICC Seeks Arrest Warrants For Netanyahu And Hamas Leader

Israelis support plans by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to overhaul the judicial system protest against Israel's Supreme Court in Jerusalem, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023. Thousands support

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused the International Criminal Court (ICC) of attempting to restrict Israel's ability to defend itself. This comes after the ICC announced its intention to seek arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the October 7 attacks on Israel and the subsequent conflict in Gaza.

Netanyahu expressed strong opposition to the ICC's actions, stating that they are aimed at limiting Israel's capacity to protect itself. He warned that if Israel's hands are tied, the United States could be the next target. The prime minister emphasized that such actions by the ICC could jeopardize the ability of all democracies to combat terrorism.

Despite the ICC's move, Netanyahu affirmed that Israel will continue to defend itself and that its hands will never be shackled. His remarks were met with applause and cheers from the audience.
