A British tourist is fighting for his life after falling from a second-floor balcony in Ibiza.
The 21-year-old tumbled to the ground from his holiday pad in the popular party resort of Playa d’en Bossa on Thursday morning.
Local reports claim that the holidaymaker, who has not been named, had been trying to jump between balconies when he fell.
He suffered multiple injuries including head wounds and was rushed to an intensive care unit at the private Nuestra Senora del Rosario clinic.
The tragedy unfolded at the adult-only Jet Apartments at around 5.40am when the alarm was raised.
An hour later, the Brit reached the private clinic where he remains in intensive care.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
There has not yet been any official comment from the Civil Guard which is the force probing the holiday apartment plunge.
In August 2017, Carl Shepherd, known as Daniel, died at the apartment complex after a three-floor fall at 5.30am.
The 28-year-old tourist had reportedly fallen asleep on a ledge between the terrace of his apartment and a neighbouring apartment.
Well-placed sources revealed at the time police had taken away several laughing gas capsules they found in the apartment he was sharing with friends and discovered several bottles of alcohol lying on the floor of the flat.
Friends insisted they did not play the ‘key’ part in his death and described him as a ‘deeply-loved, warm and charismatic man.’
The electrician, who was born in the US, had dual citizenship but grew up with his family in south London.
It also emerged he was a cousin of British producer and actress Aletha Shepherd, a former Miss World Guyana. In 2019 Carl’s mum said after his inquest she suspected foul play.
In April, another British holidaymaker was left in a serious condition after falling 12ft from a hotel balcony on the other side of the Balearic island.
Emergency services were called out to a resort in San Antonio after the tourist fell shortly after 10pm in June.
The man plunged from his first floor balcony onto a building below and he was later stabilised by medics, according to reports.
He was then rushed to hospital and treated in intensive care.
