IAS Sanjeev Khirwar: Walking their dog in Delhi stadium cost heavy to IAS couple; both shifted separately at 3100 Km distance

IAS Sanjeev Khirwar

New Delhi: IAS Sanjeev Khirwar and his IAS wife Rinku Dugga who walked their dog at Thyagaraj Stadium here on Thursday by curtailing the practice time of athletes were relieved of their duties with the Delhi government and transferred to separate stations.

While Sanjeev Khirwar, who was Delhi's Principal Secretary (Revenue) has been transferred to Ladakh, his wife Rinku, who was Secretary (Lands and Buildings) has been shifted to Arunachal Pradesh--a distance of 3100 Kms between the two stations.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, the cadre controlling authority for Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) officers, took a serious view of the alleged misuse of official position by the bureaucrat couple.

The Ministry immediately decided to relieve them from the Government of Delhi NCT and shifted them to stations far off from one another.

Earlier, the Home Ministry sought a report from Delhi Chief Secretary on the "misuse of facilities at Thyagaraj Stadium."

However, Sanjeev Khirwar has denied the allegations of the players being pushed out of the stadium to facilitate walking of the dog on the track.

After the incident, the Delhi Government on Thursday directed all state-run sports facilities including prominent statiums to stay open for sportsperson till 10pm.
