Ianis Hagi's Rangers contract details revealed as new deal puts pre contract worries to bed

Ianis Hagi's new deal at Rangers runs until 2025 after the club moved to put concerns over a pre-contract exit to bed.

The Romanian was revealed to be the mystery player Michael Beale had hinted at as he became the first star to commit his future to the Beale era at the club. Still on the sidelines with a long-term injury, the 24-year-old will now focus on working his way back to fitness and repaying the club for sticking by him and putting fresh terms on the table.

It was reported at the time he signed his last deal that it ran until 2024, but this is not believed to be the case. Record Sport understands Hagi's new deal is a two-year extension on his existing one, which was due to expire this coming summer. He's now under contract until 2025 with the club keen to tie him down and avoid any risk of him signing a pre-contract deal with another club in January.

Speaking after signing the deal, Hagi said: "The history that this club has pushes you every single day on the pitch and off the pitch to be a better player and a better person. I like to think I have left something behind me and I have given really good memories to the fans but I still feel like I haven't done everything that I want.

"I still have a lot of things to show and give to this amazing group of people in Rangers as well as the fans. I just can't wait until I'm back."
