Ianis Hagi 'returns' to Rangers training as playmaker's 'amazing' recovery stuns Ibrox chiefs

Ianis Hagi has reportedly returned to Rangers training well ahead of schedule.

The playmaker was ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury during January's Scottish Cup victory over Stirling Albion.

He later underwent surgery and Giovanni van Bronckhorst admitted he wouldn't be back until next term.

But a report in the Romanian's homeland claims he's already back training and has stunned club chiefs with an "amazing" recovery.

Playsport say Rangers spent big to speed up the 22-year-old's comeback, claiming they forked out €80,000 (£68,000) for his operation and a further €25,000-per-month (£21,000) on rehab.

It's said Hagi is already operating at 60 per cent of peak fitness but time is running out for the former Fiorentina and Genk star to make the Europa League Final on May 18.

Hagi 's father, Romanian legend Gheorghe, revealed in April his son hadn't given up on making it to Seville.

Hagi Snr said: "If they got past Dortmund, they have the ability to play in the final. Ianis told me that he will play the final.

"There are still two strong teams, Barcelona and Lyon, who are on the other side."
