Ianis Hagi makes Rangers trophy vow as Romanian relishes Ibrox competition

IANIS HAGI is determined to add to his Rangers medal collection as Michael Beale builds a squad capable of delivering silverware success at Ibrox.

Hagi was part of the side that lifted a historic 55th Premiership title two years ago as the Light Blues wrote their names into the history books.

The Romanian has returned to action on the eve of the Viaplay Cup final and is now pushing for a spot in the group for the Hampden showpiece with Celtic.

Beale is spoiled for choice in the attacking areas of the side but that competition will only drive Hagi on strive for future triumphs with Rangers.

Hagi said: "I never like to be happy with what I am and who I am. I always try to push myself, discover myself and discover my limits.

“I’ve been doing this in terms of football, and off the pitch as well, but football just grabbed every minute that I had in life.

“The last year I had more time to myself and was able to figure out what I could get better at.

“I think I’ll never take for granted any trophy that I’ve won. I’ve been winning since I was seven years old.

“Even though that was youth level, I’ve never lost a final. I’ve always won, so individual trophies and team trophies as well.

“I like to think that I’m a winner and I’ve been doing that everywhere I’ve been, so this is my only focus. This is why I’m here, it’s why I put my boots on every single day — thinking of winning trophies, nothing else.

“Well, we’re talking about one of the best teams in Europe. Getting to the Europa League final, having all these European runs and winning trophies internally. You can’t do that with eleven players.

“It’s Rangers and you expect competition. I’m looking for that because it’s something that pushes you every single day. I will never hide from that.

“Whoever it is, I know it’s my team-mates, your friends. You push to win the same trophies and play in the team but in training I will never hide from that and will actually look for it."
