Gutted Ianis Hagi has promised to use his time on the sidelines to improve as a player as he prepares to miss the remainder of Rangers campaign.
The Romanian star went off with a knee injury early in the Scottish Cup fourth round win over Stirling Albion.
And Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed the playmaker won’t be available after going under the knife.
It leaves the Dutchman without one of his key men having shown faith in the 23-year-old since his arrival Ibrox, making him one. of the first names on his team sheet.
But, following surgery, Hagi has spoken of his disappointment for the first time.
He posted to Instagram: "After yesterday’s successful surgery, I would like to thank Dr. Andrew Williams and everyone involved in the surgery.
"I’m excited and motivated to start this journey that lies ahead of me.
"I know there will be some tough times ahead of me as well but I definitely see this as an opportunity to discover and develop myself as a person and football player, and will come back better than ever.
"The road to recovery begins."
