Arsenal legend Ian Wright has taken another shot at Ruben Neves following the Wolves midfielder’s provocative comments after last week’s game.
The Gunners picked up a valuable 1-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League last Thursday thanks to Gabriel Magalhaes’ first-half goal.
The result ended a run of five games in all competitions without a win for Mikel Arteta’s side and boosted their chances in the race for the top four.
Despite not playing on the weekend due to Chelsea being at the Club World Cup, Arsenal are still in the running, sitting sixth – four points behind Manchester United, but with three games in hand.
The win was made even more special because Arsenal had to play the final 25 minutes with 10 men following a controversial red card to Gabriel Martinelli – a fourth in six matches for Arteta’s side.
After the final whistle at Molineux, Wolves’ players were annoyed to see Arteta and his team celebrating on the pitch.
"We saw the way they celebrated the win and that shows the level we are,” Neves said in his post-match interview.
“I didn't see Arsenal celebrating like this in the past 10 years. It was like they won the league."
Shortly after the Gunners’ win in the Midlands, Wright posted a picture of himself on Twitter, alongside the caption “still celebrating”.
And the former Arsenal striker has now doubled down on his stance against Neves by reaffirming his thoughts on the issue.
“I was vexed with Neves, coming out and saying ‘look at how Arsenal are celebrating’,” he said on the Wrighty’s House podcast. “What’s wrong with you?

“That’s an unbelievable result for Arsenal, (considering) the way that you lot have been playing. 1-0 down with 10 men away from home and we get the goal [win]. That is cause for celebration!”
A quirk of the Covid-hit fixture list will see Arsenal face Wolves once again next Thursday, after their upcoming match against Brentford on Saturday.
Wolves, who play Leicester City this weekend, should come into the rematch full of confidence after picking up a huge 2-0 win against fellow top-four hopefuls Tottenham on Sunday.
After that win in north London, Wolves aimed a sly dig at Arsenal by posing a video on Twitter of their players applauding the away fans with the caption: “Celebrating the right way”.
Bruno Lage has quietly transformed Wolves into a rock-solid team who make extremely difficult opponents - and, in fact, Wolves are in with an outside chance of finishing in the top four.
The Midlands side have conceded just 17 goals in 23 league games this season. Only defending champions Manchester City, who have let in 14, have a better record.
Wolves are currently seventh in the Premier League table, two points behind Arsenal and will have similar goals of trying to push higher in the closing stages of the season.
