Ian Wright names the one Arsenal player that Mikel Arteta has treated unfairly

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has treated Rob Holding unfairly, according to Ian Wright.

The north Londoners have struggled defensively since first-choice right-centre-back William Saliba sustained a lower back injury back in March. With Saliba in the team, Arteta's side conceded just 25 times in 27 Premier League fixtures, shipping 14 in the seven games without the French international.

Holding started six of those seven matches, receiving considerable criticism for his performances, something Wright has now voiced his frustrations with. Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Gunners legend said: “I think [Arteta] has been a bit unfair on Rob Holding.

“He is somebody who hasn't had a lot of minutes. He was someone who came in to replace William Saliba – and he is fantastic.

“Yes, in certain instances, Rob has been done for pace. We have seen him isolated and it has caused a bit of a problem.

“I think it has been unfair, some of the stick he has got. But seeing [Jakub] Kiwior coming in. He has been there long enough to see what’s going on and to see what we are capable of.

"I think it’s good to bring him in. These are the games you want to see him in.”
